We recently bought this 2012 Toyota Prius V Level 5 in San Ramon, California. The 2012 Prius V is the wagon version of the already popular hatchback Prius. It offers a longer wheelbase, upgraded suspension to accommodate the heavier body but it comes with the standard Prius battery and engine.
Interestingly the Prius V sold a total of 148,079 units from 2011-2016 in the United States but in Japan, Toyota sold a total of 428,400 units!
The 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 Toyota Prius engine was known for excessive oil consumption, head gasket problems, carbon build up in the intake manifold and the Hybrid Inverter failing prematurely. We see a lot of these with blown engines or hybrids but understandably as they usually have over 100k or 150k miles.
Which makes you wonder if the gas savings is really worth replacing the gas engine or hybrid in at 150k miles when the Toyota Camry, Toyota Rav4 and Toyota Corollas generally go 200k miles before needing any major repairs. It really depends on how long you plan on owning the car and how many miles you drive per year and your personal preference.
We can buy your Prius with a blown head gasket, blown motor, bad hybrid or missing catalytic convertors. We can also buy it in good condition!
